Day 0 - Big Picture

This blog records our trip to Taiwan and the Philippines . . . in part retracing the path of the Austronesian peoples.  Their story is a ripper yarn - see more about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austronesian_peoples .

Our plan is not so ambitious as that mob . . . we're visiting the east coast of Taiwan and doing a clockwise circumnavigation of the Philippines terminating in Manila.

We start at the top and then go around clockwise

The plan is to depart tomorrow (22nd October) for Manila then Taipei and then travel by car (with driver) some 50km east of Taipei to Keelung where we are staying for two nights.

We intend to have a bit of a look around Keelung on Monday 23th and in the morning of Tuesday 24th before boarding the MV Coral Adventurer at 3:00pm - and the adventure begins.

In the meantime, we are pretty much all packed up and ready to go - the car is arriving at FlindersLane at 6:30am for our 9:00am Philippine Airlines flight.

The only question is Lorraine's gastro problem.  Yesterday and this morning she was in big trouble and there was no way she could travel.  We found a quack in the CBD open on a Saturday and she seems to have sorted things with a cocktail of drugs and electrolytes.  Here's hoping.

Loads of stuff with masks, snorkels and fins ready for the tropical water
