Today was all about being at sea – and bureaucracy. As usual, I was up and about early writing up some notes and then did 15laps of the ship. The day was filled in with meals, guest lecturers and more bureaucracy.
One of the lectures was 'this region's history in 20 objects and another about the 1980s Philippines revolution to depose the Marcos regime delivered by a woman who was one of the millions in the streets standing up against the army. The fight against Marcos had been going on for decades, but it all came down to
four
days in February 1986 when people power overcame the military and Marcos.
And more bureaucracy - we've had the diving/snorkeling safety brief so many times we can recite it our sleep. I guess they need to tick all their boxes.
Other than that, we sailed on into the day and then the night . . .
